current feature: progressing from 2012 to 2013

Top Built Environment Trends from 2012 is an article in Urban Times magazine that is well worth reading. As the author, Josh O'Connor points out, "... it seems that more than ever we are seeing people engage the places they live rather than waiting for community to form on its own."

O'Connor focuses on placemaking, tactical urbanism, the smart city, infill development and walkability. It's not that these trends are new, it is more that they are on the ascendancy.

We in Bermuda tend to wait for community to happen around us and then express surprise at what we get. That must change. Perhaps these trends will become reality here on our island.
